Jurmala and Riga to receive EUR 29,406 as compensation for admitting refugees and persons with alternative status
RIGA, June 9 (LETA) - Jurmala and Riga will be granted EUR 29,406 as compensation for hosting refugees and persons with an alternative status, the government decided on Tuesday.
Riga municipality will receive EUR 29,043 and Jurmala municipality - EUR 363. The funding comes from contingency funds.
The funding is granted to compensate the actual costs incurred by municipalities in providing financial and material assistance for admission of refugees and persons with an alternative status and organizing socio-economic inclusion measures in 2025.
In Riga, 19 persons from 12 households who acquired refugee or alternative status between 2024 and 2025 received assistance last year. In contrast, one person was assisted in Jurmala.
