RIGA, July 17 (LETA) - Foreign Minister Baiba Braze (New Unity) discussed cooperation between Latvia and the U.S. in the areas of security, defense, energy, and the economy during a visit to Washington with U.S. officials, members of Congress, and representatives from other countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed LETA.

During the visit, the minister participated in an international ministerial conference hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where security issues and international cooperation were discussed. Braze shared Latvia’s experience in strengthening resilience against hybrid threats and emphasized the importance of coordinated action among allies.

During talks with U.S. senators, cooperation between Latvia and the U.S. in the field of defense was discussed. Meanwhile, during a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, the security situation in the Middle East, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and continued support for Ukraine were discussed.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Foreign Minister also met with the leadership of the Joint Baltic-American National Committee and U.S. officials to discuss cooperation in the areas of security, energy, and the economy, as well as the representation of the interests of the Baltic states in the U.S.
